Dalal Saoud is a journalist and a longtime supporter of WAN-IFRA Women in News (WIN), having taken on roles over the years as both Coach as well as Steering Committee member for Lebanon in 2017 and 2020 respectively. She was appointed WIN Director of the Arab region in February 2022. Dalal carries with her many years of dedicated newsroom management and leadership experience, with multiple stints as Lebanon and Middle East bureau chief for United Press International (UPI). In her latter position, Dalal successfully managed a team of 30, many remote based, during a time of massive upheaval and instability. In the fall of 2011, Dalal joined Carnegie Middle East Center as Director of Communications in Beirut, before moving to the American University of Beirut (AUB) as Director of Information and Media Relations. In 2016, Dalal helped to found The Arab Weekly, a London-based publication, where she also acted as Deputy Editor in Chief. Throughout, she continued to freelance for UPI as a journalist/beat writer ensuring she remains connected to her first passion, that of a journalist. She has a BA in Political Science and Public Administration from the American University of Beirut (AUB). She is fluent in Arabic, English and French.
