Ahmad Damen is an award-winning Palestinian musician, podcast producer and filmmaker.

An MSc holder in Change Management from Leeds University, Damen left his job in Marketing Management to pursue his dreams in films and music. He is a professional Oud player and his career in composing soundtracks includes 12 long documentaries and other short fiction and TV projects.

Damen directed his first feature documentary “The Red Stone” in 2012 which was an international success and won him his first award in Toronto, Canada. His second feature film “Forbidden Pilgrimage” was produced in 2014 and was translated to four languages besides Arabic.

He went on to work in a variety of jobs including the editor of a magazine in Palestine for which he won 2nd place at the prestigious WMS awards in Beijing-China for exemplary news coverage. He also worked at Birzeit University (Palestine) where he produced his first podcast on World Music (2015).

Damen joined the Middle Eastern Broadcasting Networks in 2017 as a program evaluator and documentary acquisition producer. Later, he joined the podcast team and trained journalists on sound design and recording techniques. He helped established the award-winning podcast “Fusool” for which he received the AIB award for the Best Factual Podcast (2022). Damen has produced more than 60 episodes (30 min each) in the last year and a half. He has practical experience in all aspects of podcast production (from research and field recording to mastering and music supervision). He enjoys listening to podcasts and discussing both the editorial and technical aspects of production.

He currently resides in Washington, DC.
