In this context, the role played by journalists is vital in accountability and exposing the negative impact of climate change on people’s lives. They also play an important role in shedding light on positive initiatives.

In this webinar, a group of climate experts and environmental journalists will share their inspiring experiences in covering climate summits, telling stories of climate change, fighting misinformation, access to credible sources, and how can we build on that to create an impactful environmental journalism ecosystem.

In this session, the International Women’s Media Foundation will lead digital safety experts and editors in a conversation about promoting a culture of change in newsrooms when it comes to tackling online violence. They will discuss “A Guide to Protecting Newsrooms and Journalists Against Online Violence,” a resource from the IWMF that details policies and best practices that newsrooms can implement to better protect staff members who are targeted simply for doing their jobs.

The guide includes case studies from six months of work with a wide range of newsrooms — from small, specialized outlets covering health in South Africa to established independent newsrooms in the United States.

Data can be a great ally for journalistic investigations. It can help find leads, drive reporting efforts and be a key connector for cross-border collaborations. Data has been a central part of ICIJ projects. In this session we will explore how to make data accessible to everyone as well as strategies to involve and engage journalists with different skillsets in journalistic projects involving data.

How can data support investigative projects? In this session, Delphine will use examples from ICIJ and from her other freelance work to show how journalists can approach their investigations with a data mindset, using public records (corporate registries, court documents, news clips, museum catalogues). She will offer practical advice – do’s and dont’s when structuring information – for a smoother fact-checking and validation process, especially when working in a team.

In this workshop, offered in Amman, trainers Naji Tamimi and Khadija Ouled Addi, with more than 15 years of experience in investigative journalism and production, will focuse on how to pitch an investigation, building budgets, and best practices when writing investigations.

This workshop is organised in Amman in collaboration with the Norwegian Association for Critical and Investigative Press (SKUP). A group of trainers specialised in fact-checking are training in this workshop training a group of fact-checkers from 9 Arab countries, on pre-publication fact checking, data checking, fact checking tools, confidential sources and open source investigations.

ARIJ held a workshop entitled “”The Rule of Law and Influential Journalism”” for a period of three days. The workshop deals with dealing with the budget and its appendices, and how to read economic data, in addition to enabling journalists to advance the crime laws related to journalistic work, covering crime news, and banning publication. In addition to these topics, data journalism and how we can tell stories using available maps and tools. This workshop is held in Amman.

This workshop is funded by Free Press Unlimited (FPU),and takes place in Amman, for the purpose of developing ARIJ Safety model through the group work of 5 fellows participated in the Right to Safety fellowship, which was released by ARIJ and FPU at the end of last June, in addition of veteran investigative reporters and academics from 7 Arabic countries; of which countries face armed conflicts, and others with delicate political scene.

This training offered in Amman by the Small Arms Survey (SAS) in partnership and collaboration with Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) aims to strengthen the capacity of journalists from the Middle East and North Africa (NENA) region. Journalists play a crucial role in reporting conflicts in the region. The training course aims to equip journalists with further skills and knowledge.

ARIJ and the international center for journalists are organizing a two-day bootcamp in Amman between November 30-December1, on the sideline of ARIJ 15th annual Forum in Amman, Jordan, to allow participants of IJNet Arabic Mentoring Center to meet each other, their mentors and a few Mentoring Center alumni. The bootcamp will help the mentees in achieving their journalism goals by equipping them with digital and professional skills and connecting them with some of the brightest specialists in journalism, marketing and financial sustainability.

This workshop in Amman is held as part of the 100 Watts project supported by the Embassy of Netherlands in Jordan. The participants will be trained on filming fundamentals, basic rules in filming interviews, Mobile journalism and reporting.
